Beads, Beads and More Beads

I just got back from a vacation in Albuquerque New Mexico. It was a great trip. If you have never been there, plan to go sometime. When you do, take plenty of cash for jewelry. They have awesome jewelry from both stores, and local Indian artisans. I love sterling silver so I came home loaded up. It helps to have a friend who lives there and knows where all the great places are.

I guess I got a little inspired too. I bought six strands of sodalite beads and made a necklace while I was there and then came home and hit JoAnn Fabrics for more beads and made the necklace that is in the post. I am a statement necklace girl, so this one was fun to make.

It isn’t really hard, and making them yourself means you get exactly what you want! Try it out sometime. I was after a necklace with the magenta colors in it and found a bunch of beads in those colors. They were also 40% off so that made it easier on the wallet. This is a double strand so it took more beads, otherwise this would have easily been two necklaces. It is is on Beadalon wire with a toggle clasp.

I think it is fun to make them yourself. It can be expensive the first time if you are getting all the tools, but once you do that it is a little cheaper to get just the beads.

One more day left of my vacation and then back to work on Monday! Why do vacations seem to go so fast!
